本文争议焦点： 到底什么是Competitiveness?
在雅思论坛上很多3月12日考试的考生争论的一个焦点就是到底怎么理解competitiveness这个单词？在维基百科上对这个词的解释是:
Competitiveness is a comparative concept of the ability and performance of a firm,sub-sector or country to sell and supply goods and/or services in a given market.
看上去似乎和题目当中所说的competitiveness对不起来，因为这个解释明显是从business的角度来说的。所幸再查一下朗文字典发现该词还有一个解释：the desire to be more successful than other people。有点类似于ambition，像我们平时生活里面说某个人“很要强”，差不多就是这个意思。所以把competitiveness理解成“竞争意识”的同学就不用担心自己偏题了。

题目分析：
这个题目从命题的形式来看属于常规题目和Report的“混搭”。前半部分要求分析competitiveness对个人造成的影响，典型的report套路。但后半部分又回归到传统的对主体性质进行判定上去了。从结构上来说，这样的文章可以粗略分为3大段-即Introduction介绍题目背景，Body部分分析competitiveness对个人影响，最后判定其性质另外分一段为conclusion。如果要细分的话可以把对competitiveness对个人影响的段落处理成每一个effect单独分一段，以250字-300字的信息量来说，这个部分基本写三段，写两个positive effect加一个negative effect(2+1模式)或者一个positive effect加两个negative effect（1+2模式）都可以。笔者个人更倾向于后者(1+2模式)。

结构思路:
Introduction: Background Information (It is generally believed that competitiveness is a quality beneficial to people in modern society. In my opinion, competitiveness has mixed effects to individuals.)

Body:
(1). Positive effect of competitiveness: 给人一种动力 (motivation)，促使人们主动提高自己(Drive people to take the initiative to further develop themselves)
(2). Negative effect1: 竞争意识过强会给人过大的不利要的压力 (unnecessary pressure)，可能导致心理问题(psychological problems)。 此处建议采用事例论证(Case Evidence)进行拓展。（这种案例现实生活 中真的存在！我一个朋友在四大工作，跟我说之前她们公司一个上外毕业 的男生就是因为竞争意识过强，一旦发现自己竞争不过别人就选择了...... 自杀......当然我们写雅思作文的时候事例不用讲得那么详细，就比较 general地说一下就可以了）。
(3). Negative effect2: 竞争意识过强可能会影响一个人的人际交往 (interpersonal contact)。这个比较适合理论论证(Theoretical Evidence),一个人如果competitiveness过强，会很容易把别人都看作是 竞争对手(rivals)，很难会有人愿意与这样的人交朋友。
Conclusion: 虽然competitiveness能够给予人们前进的动力，但竞争意识过于强烈的 话可能会带来的问题更多。因此总体上我认为它是一种negative trend。
