In the contemporary society, the issue of children’s spending too much time on TV, video and PC games is increasingly severe. However, in the meantime whether children should spend too much time on TV, video and PC games has sparked heated debate. Some individuals assert that it has beneficial influences on the children’s development to some extent while many others hold that it has detrimental impacts as well. Personally, I am in favor of the former view.

There are reasons for some people to believe that children’s spending time on watching TV, video and playing PC games creates numerous benefits to children’s lives. To start with, the children can broaden their horizons through multimedia, having access to a great deal of information. There is simple evidence suggesting that information play a crucial role in children’s growth. Moreover, children can relax themselves with TV, video and PC games. Specifically, TV, video and PC games afford more entertainment and pleasure to people, which can enrich children’s experience, relax children’s bodies and ease their mind. Lastly, the majority of children in China are singletons, therefore these multimedia equipments can help children dispel the sense of loneliness. In other words, I would feel hard-pressed to imagine how lonely children would be without these assisting entertainment facilities.

Admittedly, the children’s spending much time on TV, video and PC games has some detrimental influences. To be more exact, many TV programs, videos and PC games contain excessive violent and pornographic contents. Obviously, the children do not have good self-control ability, they cannot choose which program is fit for themselves. Despite that, the unhealthy programs appear frequently.
